Duration – 1 Day

Certification – Certification for this course is valid for 5 years. To remain certified in this area, you will need to resit this refresher course before the expiry date on your certificate, otherwise the full course will need to be retaken.

  • Company CITB Levy number – Candidates attending Construction related courses should bring their company CITB Levy number with them if applicable.

  • Regulatory & Standard Updates: Review current legislation and the latest BS 5975 standards relating to temporary works.
  • Risk Management: Reinforce knowledge on identifying and controlling risks to avoid failures.
  • Role & Responsibilities: Reconfirm the key duties of the TWC, including managing the temporary works procedure, design, and implementation.
  • The “4 Cs”: Strengthen the practical application of communication, cooperation, coordination, and competence.
  • Key Processes: Revisit best practices for managing the full lifecycle of temporary works, including design, checking, and assembly.
  • Documentation: Review typical documents and procedures for effective management. 
The refresher is essential for maintaining competency and ensuring compliance for those already
trained as a TWC

 

Course Aim

The Temporary Works Co-ordinator Training Refresher condenses the content of the full 2 day course for those with an existing understanding of what it takes to control temporary works on site.

It is designed to assist those on site who have responsibility for managing all forms of temporary works. The course has been designed to give confidence to senior management, and to ensure that those who engage contractors have an assessed standard of knowledge

Who should attend?
The TWCTC refresher one-day course, is aimed at learners who have completed the TWCTC or the TWCTC refresher in the last five years, or subsequent refresher course, and can provide proof of attendance.

Course Overview

The TWCTC refresher one-day course, is aimed at learners who have completed the TWCTC or the TWCTC refresher in the last five years. Failure to attend the temporary works refresher prior to the expiry of an existing certificate will require delegates to re-sit the full course.

Please note that Learners completing the TWCTC-R course MUST have a valid in-date TWCTC certificate to be eligible to attend.

Learners are expected to have a working knowledge of the following legislation:

  • Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
  • Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007
  • Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM) 2015
  • Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
  • Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998
  • The Personal Protective Equipment Regulations 1992
  • The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
  • The Work at Height Regulations 2005

 

A key issue for temporary works is health and safety, so learners need to be prepared to discuss how health and safety legislation is relevant to temporary works, as well as which Approved Codes of Practice (ACOPs) and guidance notes may assist or contribute to safe practices in temporary works.

Note:You must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.
