Course Content
– Operating the plant machinery on all normal tasks for which it is designed-
Deciding whether a particular load is safe to lift
– Carrying out routine telehandler servicing and plant maintenance in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
– Conducting minor mechanical adjustments
– Preparing and driving the machine on public highways, in accordance with the requirements of the UK Road Traffic Act
– Understanding the purpose and capabilities of the machine and any relevant safety precautions necessary for its operation
– How the handler machine works and the maintenance requirements involved
– The effect of load, size, weight, gradients and ground conditions upon machine stability
– Loading, storage and transit of representative materials
– The basic construction of pallets
– The permitted loading of scaffolds
Equipment & Other Requirements
Equipment & Other Requirements
Candidates are required to bring the following equipment on the day of the training:-
- PPE – Hard Hat, Safety boots, High Visible Jacket/Vest.
- Company CITB Levy number – Candidates attending Construction related courses should bring their company CITB Levy number with them if applicable.
- A Form of photo ID ( Passport, Driving license, Formal ID Cards)
If attending a refresher course candidate must provide their current certificate on the day of the training.

Learning Objectives
This training course will provide delegates with a comprehensive understanding of operating a Rough Terrain Forklift, including practical and theoretical knowledge. The content is tailored to the experience of the operator, so will change depending on whether you book for a Foundation/Novice course or an Experienced Worker course.
Course Aim
To provide thorough practical and theory plant training in operating a Rough Terrain Telescopic Handler, to enable the candidate to competently and safely carry out the role.
Candidates must have passed the CSCS Health and Safety test (within the last 24 months) to gain the NPORS CSCS card
Course Overview
This course enables successful delegates to use a rough terrain forklift truck. The aim of this course:
– Improved safety culture and staff morale
– Reduced risk of accidents and incidents
– Reduced risks of claims and prosecutions
– The safe operation of a fork lift truck in areas including factories, stores, warehouses, goods yards and heavy haulage depots
