Course Content
This course ensures that delegates gain sufficient understanding of current legislation and learn skills which will ensure safe use of the fork lift truck. Topics covered include:
– Introduction to the lift truck to be used
– Weight assessment
– Controls and instruments
– Handling laden and unladen pallets
– Starting, moving and stopping the truck
– Driving on/off ramps and inclines
– Steering the truck
– Road vehicle loading and unloading
– Operation of hydraulic controls
– Stacking/de-stacking, in-racking & free standing
– Pre-use inspection
– Course review and evaluation
Equipment & Other Requirements
Equipment & Other Requirements
Candidates are required to bring the following equipment on the day of the training:-
- PPE – Hard Hat, Safety boots, High Visible Jacket/Vest.
- Company CITB Levy number – Candidates attending Construction related courses should bring their company CITB Levy number with them if applicable.
- A Form of photo ID ( Passport, Driving license, Formal ID Cards)
If attending a refresher course candidate must provide their current certificate on the day of the training.
If preferred you can also email us a copy of your certificate prior to attending the course.

– The safe operation of a fork lift truck in areas including factories, stores, warehouses, goods yards and heavy haulage depots
Course Aim
This course is aimed at complete novice candidates who have never driven the truck.
Assessment and Certification
You will complete a multiple choice question assessments, pre-use inspection tests and a practical based tests throughout the duration of the course. Once you have passed the assessments, you will be issued with an RTITB certificate with a photo ID card. These are currently valid for 3 years.
Course Overview
This enables successful delegates to use a counterbalance forklift truck up to a 5000kg lifting capacity anywhere in the UK. The Counterbalance Forklift is the most common forklift used in today’s industry.
